...it also has a unique micro-climate created by the surrounding hills that makes it so very special...

Slap bang in the Costa Blanca, Benidorm's sunshine is part of what makes it one of the best holiday destinations in the Mediterranean but it also has a unique micro-climate created by the surrounding hills that makes it so very special.

Open to the south on the double curve of its two long beaches beaches, Benidorm is protected from the winds by the mountains Sierra Helada to the east, Aitana to the north and Tossal de la Cala to the west. The result?

Fabulous Holidays all year round, with
summer sun and temperate winters.

There's about six hours of sunshine a day in winter, with mild temperatures much warmer than those inland. As for the summertime, expect around twelve hours of sun per day with some humidity. More details are below to help you decide when to book.

  • Sunny and warm from May-Oct
  • Most crowded and hot in July-Aug, although the climate is tempered by a sea breeze
  • A year-round resort with pleasantly warm winters
  • Swimming in sea from June-Oct (and November too, if you're used to the cold Northern European Winters!)

Please bear in mind that the temperatures shown above are averages and that in high summer the hottest parts of the day are HOT.

See Suncare for pointers on how best to keep cool and take care of those with especially sensitive skins.

365 Days in Benidorm

To those who only holiday here in summer, you may well be surprised to hear that Benidorm is a popular and busy year round destination.

There's no doubt that summer is for lazing round the pool, letting your hair down in the busy bars and clubs or strolling along the promenade on a warm evening under the star filled night.

Come November Benidorm throws itself headlong in to a full week of fun and games that herald the start of the Winter season.
Instead of freezing their toes off in colder climes, clever holidaymakers swap snow for sunshine and frost for fun. Feeling the sun on your face in dreary January really gets the year started in the right way! But don't overlook the other months; Christmas is a popular time for a relaxing and being pampered holiday, whilst an Easter break brings the excitement of the fiestas and an early tan.
Elsewhere the Costa Blanca offers brisk walks on deserted beaches and a flower filled countryside to explore – quite a revelation if you've only seen the sun parched landscape of summer!
What doesn’t change is the quality of restaurants that can be visited, the fiestas and celebrations that continue throughout the year, the shopping opportunities and the leisurely pace of life.

Below we have outlined some of the year’s highlights in Benidorm so that you can do a check for the time you are visiting the resort. Just click on the links for more information:

January:
Fed up of grey skies and suffering from post Christmas blues? Then head off for a break to Benidorm where the sun will be shining and the celebrations are still going on!

February:
It's Carnival time!! Benidorm comes alive with music, dancing and the brightest of colours so get out there and shake a tail feather with the best of them!

March:
This is the perfect month for golfers. Beautiful spring weather and warm breezes ensure that playing an 18 hole golf course is a joy

April:
Top up your vitamin D with a dose of warm spring sunshine. It's just what the doctor ordered and the perfect way to start off your summer tan!

May:
The whole coast is starting to rev up for the summer madness, so get in quick before it all starts. Great prices mean this is the family-friendly time of year too!

June:
The bars and clubs are now in full swing with fantastic acts and 'must do' parties. It's time to pack those high heels girls and book that flight!

August:

September:
The August rush is over, Benidorm starts to relax and temperatures are more manageable. The kids may be back at school but the fun continues in the resort.

October:
Our favourite month. Why? Because the sea is still warm, the beaches are less crowded and the locals have more time to chat with you - heaven!

November:
It's fiesta time! Fun, fancy dress, fireworks and the biggest party of the year! It's extremely popular so make sure you book well ahead.

December:
You've survived the Christmas shopping so now it's time to treat yourselves. Sit back, relax and have someone else cook Christmas dinner.
