Benidorm in April

Top up your vitamin D with a dose of warm spring sunshine. It's just what the doctor ordered and the perfect way to start off your summer tan!

This is usually the month when Benidorm holds its Easter celebrations (dependent on the calendar). After a church service in the early evening a parade is held through the streets. It's a sombre procession with heavy floats being carried along bedecked in fresh flowers and with effigies of Christ. Locals dress as Roman soldiers, or as penitents and a band plays a slow march keeping everyone in time. It is a real spectacle.

Elsewhere, in the countryside, poppies are starting to appear and soon whole fields will be blood red with their blooms. It's a lovely time of year to get out and about and explore the surrounding area as the roads are not too busy.

Weather: 11-23 degrees. Day-wear: layers over short sleeves. Evening: light coat or warm jumpers.
