Benidorm in January

Fed up of grey skies and suffering from post Christmas blues? Then head off for a break to Benidorm where the sun will be shining and the celebrations are still going on!

Although the Spanish now celebrate Christmas, the most important date in their calendar is the Three Kings celebration on the 6th of January. Celebrations are held in all the major towns along the coast and many of the smaller villages too.  On the 5th January, in the early evening, the Kings alight (from a boat) and a parade winds its way to the church through the streets. They visit the baby Jesus to offer gifts and so tradition follows that all the children receive their presents too! This event is a definite must see and a great one for the kids.

Weather: 8-15 degrees. Day-wear: layers are best over short sleeved t-shirts. Evening: warm coat.

Fiestas:
01. January - New Year's Day
06. January - Epiphany
17. January - San Antonio and the Hermita de Sanz
