The opposition on Benidorm council are blooming mad about a bill for €23,000 recently paid by the finance department. The bill represents the cost of flowers ordered by the council's department of protocol in a mere 4 months and the opposition consider this cost 'astronomical.'
They say that it would be more economical to set up a special council flower growing department rather than by them in from local florists. We tried to contact Sir Elton John, who knows a thing or two about splashing out on flowers, to see if he could better Benidorm Councils spend-fest - but he was unavailable for comment.
