improve the situation with new road works
One of the logistical problems of having 4 million visitors every year is actually getting them all into the city via its main entrance. Pretty well every summer there are hold ups and bottle necks as traffic backs up leaving the motorway at the turn off for the Avenida de la Comunidad Europea, the main road into town.
Well the good news is that the council are going to improve the situation with new road works which will take a mammoth 18 months. The bad news is that the improvements will start in June with the closure of the Comunidad Europa exit, giving traffic few other options to enter the town.
Needless to say the wisdom of this closure at this time of year has been questioned by many people, but the council insist that the short term pain will be a long term gain for Benidorm.
