Elephants on Parade
Published on 27th July, 2004
The soon to open environmental theme park, Terra Natura, will have a herd of Indian elephants (the ones with the little ears) on a specially constructed 5 hectare site.
The herd of 12, comprised of three males and nine females, is being gathered together from zoos and safari parks in Italy, France, Denmark, Britain and Austria.
Obviously, it is hoped that the animals which are an endangered species, will breed, and to this end the elephant enclosure has been divided into special areas of lakes and prairies so that the giant pachyderms can have a bit of privacy when they need it.
