Happy Birthday Dear Benidorm

to celebrate, a medieval market was held
Happy birthday to you. Benidorm Celebrated its 679th anniversary of being granted official town status on May 8th.
It only seems like yesterday that Admiral Bernat Sarrià conferred the town charter to the inhabitants of the area in 1235, so that they might construct their own town of Benidorm. We wonder what those same people would think now if they could see the skyscraper hotels of 21st century Benidorm.
Anyway, to celebrate, a medieval market was held, displaying all that was good about the Admiral's time, with artisans, musicians, actors, traditional pastries and sausages, and all round merrie-making without ye olde medieval drawbacks of plague, pestilence and rickets.
