Channel 4 favourites Kim and Aggie will find little to put in their grime files should they ever take a break in Benidorm from their celebrity cleaning duties.
The Council street cleaning department has just announced its modernisation programme which includes a whole new look not only for the cleaning vehicles, bins, containers and dog-do bins, but also the cleaning operatives themselves.
Last year the uniforms worn by the street cleaning teams were totally unsuited (pun intended) to toiling in the midday sun, constructed as they were, from materials seemingly designed specially to absorb every drop of heat. Operatives were falling down all over the place with thermal stress and rashes and work inspectors had to be called in so great was the problem.
Now the cleaning teams will be clad in cooler fresher materials which still conform to work safety rules as they tootle round town in 50 matching cleaning carts.
