Benidorm Fiesta - Up in Smoke

4000 kilos of gunpowder.

The council made sure that Benidorm's patronal festivities went with a bang last week by bringing in 4000 kilos of gunpowder.

We have calculated that this amount would be just enough to blow up the Houses of Parliament, however in Benidorm it was used in a much less frivolous way to entertain thousands of people with fireworks displays around town over the several days of festivities.

There was even an impromptu, and unplanned, display when a juvenile delinquent from Valencia ignited 350kilos of gunpowder for his own amusement.
