There's been a row going on in Vila Joiosa for some time now about the size of the giant construction project that one day may become the Hotel Atrium Beach.

The problem is that the company building the hotel actually constructed more than they had permission to build, a lot more. One of the possible solutions to the problem of too many square metres is to reduce them by lopping off a few floors - the only problem is that nobody can agree on the amount of illegal building.

So, there are three estimates doing the rounds for the complex task of demolishing the top of the building floor by floor, ranging from €3.2 million to €6.4 million. Time will tell if the demolition work is ever carried out because as the building is at such an advanced state, we have a sneaking feeling that the owners will get away with it.
