Hotels Less Ordinary

The new openings bring the total of hotel places in Benidorm to over 33,500.
Let's face it, our image of Benidorm consists of scores of sky scraping hotels reaching for the clear blue skies above. Today we bring you news of two new hotels which break conventions in more ways than one; The Hotel Babylon and The Hotel Mediterráneo.
British pair, Barrie Barlow and Anthony Drewitt, who gained fame some years ago by hiring a surrogate mother to bear their children, are soon to open the Babylon in the town centre which will cater for an exclusively gay clientele. They say that the hotel, only the third of its kind in the area will have a contemporary feel to its 16 luxury rooms.
Meanwhile, the Mediterráneo opened its doors amidst a blazing fireworks display last week to celebrate being the only 'horizontal' four star hotel in town. With only three floors and 172 rooms, over half the surface area of the hotel, 7000 square metres, consists of gardens for the enjoyment of its guests. The new openings bring the total of hotel places in Benidorm to over 33,500.
