According to a report by a British company, the Benidorm - Altea area is becoming thought of as the Miami of the Mediterranean, that is to say thousands of Brits want to retire here. An unastonishing 200,000 British people a year actively seek to leave the damp grey climes of Blighty for happier times in the sun.

One of the top destinations is of course this area of the Costa Blanca where, blessed with almost wall to wall sunshine as well as an extremely good infrastructure and excellent healthcare facilities, a retirement villa or apartment by the sea is a tantalising prospect.
