...will include 4 natural sea water swimming pools...
Altea's Mayor, Miguel Ortiz, was in Madrid last week, meeting with civil servants from the Ministry of the Environment, trying to chivvy along the paperwork for his plan to regenerate the coastal area.
The project, known as 'Mar de Altea' and based on an idea by architect Paqui Almiñana, envisages a kilometre long stretch of coastline completely redeveloped up to the river Algar.
It will include 4 natural sea water swimming pools, 22,000 square metres of man made beach, and an underground car park so as not to spoil the view. The vast majority of the €17 million cost is being financed by the government with €2.4 million to be stumped up by local authorities here.

Where am I?
