increased by 41% in only three years.
There's a storm brewing over the price of water in Vila Joiosa at the moment. The Town Council have just approved yet another increase in the price of water, this time by 16%, which means that the price has increased by 41% in only three years.
The opposition on the council are highly critical of the increase as the actual amount of money being spent on water treatment and control has actually decreased by 10% and, as they rightly point out, water is one of the main necessities of life.
The price hike means a big increase in expenditure for an average family of four who would normally consume over 44,000 litres every quarter and the opposition say that the Council should reduce its spending in other areas to subsidise the cost of water.
