Three cheers for the council who have initiated an ambitious plan to pedestrianise 20 streets in the middle of Benidorm.

The 'slowly, slowly' plan to ban traffic from the streets started last week with the closure of Calle La Biga and will continue in the areas of El Calvari and into the old town.

Projections by the council indicate that this will benefit both the tourists and shopkeepers in the area and we certainly agree that traffic free streets will make a much more pleasant central area.
