over 40,000 lightbulbs illuminated the streets
Small snippets of useful information.
There were over 132 congresses last year in Benidorm, bringing over 18,000 extra people into the city. City bosses are overjoyed as despite the fact that the city is really touted as a congressional venue, an extra €12 million was brought into the city by these high spending 'tourists.'
During the recent Benidorm festival week over 40,000 lightbulbs were used to illuminate the streets. Unfortunately, wet conditions prevented all the gunpowder being used in the planned fireworks displays.
Benidorm Town Hall is to pay its local policemen an up to an extra €276 per month as an encouragement not to ring in sick. Over 10,000 working days were lost in the first 9 months of the year among the 280 strong police force.
