Green Benidorm
Published on 28th January, 2005
It looks like the beautiful area of countryside on the northeastern tip of Benidorm, the Sierra Helada, will have 'Natural Park' status bestowed upon it before the summer arrives.
Apparently the paperwork to get this done is at an advanced stage and will affect the area between Benidorm and Alfaz del Pi and the whole coastal area including the Isla de Benidorm. There's even a possibility that the area would join the Natural Park of the Bay of Altea, as the council of that town have already requested this.
Already the environmental department are making changes around the Sierra's shores by installing a system of buoys which can be used as moorings by pleasure cruisers instead of the having to use their anchors which are much more damaging to the environment.
