Platforms Saved

The three platforms anchored off Benidorm's beaches will continue to float about as normal providing recreational and diving facilities for thousands of visitors every year.

There was a danger that the platforms would be mothballed as the council couldn't find enough money to cover their running costs. The platforms were installed (along with many others up and down the coast) by the Tourist Council of the Valencian Community, but with the overheads borne by the local councils.

Now the company which has the concession for the sun loungers on Benidorm's beaches has signed a contract with the council to maintain and manage the platforms until the year 2016. Good luck to them, and everybody carry on diving!
