Saving Water in Benidorm

3 or 4 million litres of water
Benidorm council has come up with a brilliant scheme to save water in the municipality. They use millions of litres of the stuff cleaning the streets, watering the gardens and cleaning the municipal fleet of vehicles and have been criticised in the past for using perfectly good (and expensive) drinking water for this.
Now some bright spark has had the idea to use the water from hotel swimming pools, which aren't used in the low season, as a cheaper, more environmentally friendly method of water supply. Already 11 pools have been emptied and so many hotel owners are queuing up to have the same treatment that the council says it needs to find a small dam to store the water till it is needed.
They reckon they'll get through 3 or 4 million litres of water until next Easter when the pools reopen for the season and will save thousands of Euros in the process. Plant lovers needn't be concerned because they won't be using the chlorinated water on the town's gardens!
