The Infrastructures Council have announced that work will commence to make the mini-train line from Vila Joiosa to Benidorm into a Supertram track. At a cost of €23 million the 9.4 km stretch will enable a direct link in 2007 from Benidorm to Alicante and much reduced travelling time.

The Ministry of the Environment are carrying out works on the dyke which forms the barrier of Altea's lagoon. Every summer the heat causes a bit of a whiff from the still waters of the lagoon, known locally as the puddle, and so holes are being put in the dyke at a cost of €230000 to allow water to circulate and thus eradicate the problem.
