Slowly Does It

A job surely done is a job well done. That will be the motto for Terra Natura in their latest project which is to create a reservation for the protection and survival of one of Spain's endangered species.

The Mora Tortoise (Testudo Graeca) is now only found in Murcia, Almeria, The Doñana national park and Mallorca, and conservationists believe that numbers of the tortoise have reduced by half in the last 45 years.

Living to up to 120 years of age, the lumbering creatures like a warm climate and a diet of plenty of greens. Boffins at Terra Natura say that the Benidorm climate is ideal for the tortoises and have already stocked the reservation with 120 of them.

They hope that the tortoises will do what comes naturally and increase their numbers without the worry of being run over by a car or stolen by small boys as happens in their dwindling natural habitats.

If you're in Benidorm why not pay a visit to Terra Natura and spend the day watching a tortoise do nothing?
