No sooner did we hear that the new generation of super trams is on its way to Benidorm than quicker than a speeding light rail train we receive news of an extension to the programme.

The transport boss of Valencia, José Ramón García Antón, has announced that the tram will connect Alicante to Altea in the year 2007.

It's easy to see that this will benefit the tourist economy of Altea as thousands and thousands of independent travellers will be able to use this quick (it travels at 100 kph) and economical means of transport to get to Altea from Alicante airport and also to get to the major attractions in nearby Benidorm.
