The whole area where Benidorm is located is experiencing a tourist boom according to figures just released. The entire coast and areas inland encompassing Valencia (hailed by the British press as the new Barcelona), Benidorm and Alicante is full of big spending foreigners.
Last year they spent €4,100 MILLION on their holidays here! That’s a 7% increase on the previous year and the biggest increase in spending in all Spain. If this is the case now just imagine the effect that the Americas Cup will have when it is held in Valencia next year.
Those of the 5 million visitors to the area last year who stayed in Benidorm also tended to spend more as the resort continued to upgrade the standard of its hotels. Tourism bosses are looking forward to the openings of the new 5 star hotels just out of town which will continue the trend of more monied visitors arriving here.
