Politics being politics the job of the opposition is to whine, whinge, criticise and generally moan about everything that ruling party does. It’s exactly the same here in Benidorm where the opposition socialists do that ad nauseam. If it’s not the quality of artists on at our big concerts, it’s the water used for cleaning the streets or the delays to the bus station or the new information guide for tourists.
However they’ve just come up with a mighty moan about something which really merits something doing about it – parking. Last bank holiday there was a total collapse of traffic circulation in Rincón de Loix when scores of dozy parkers blocked and entire lane of two avenues by double parking.
Traffic trying to get through the area was forced to drive on the wrong side of the road and of course caused absolute chaos on the very weekend when an extra 65,000 cars arrived in town carrying Spanish holiday makers.
The socialists claim that the tow truck only shifted a few of the illegally parked cars and have written to the Mayor telling him to stop this happening in future. For once we agree with them!
