Benidorm's Environmental Volunteers
Published on 2nd April, 2006
The Environmental volunteers of Benidorm are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. The official celebration will be marked with the unveiling of a plaque at the town hall when an olive tree will be planted in its gardens.
The group have carried out important work on land and sea around Benidorm and will be continuing this with a campaign to rid Benidorm Island – which can be seen by all from the Levante beach – of invasive species of plants. This will pave the way for native plants to thrive once again.
Their other important work has been a three-year battle trying to rid the pine trees of the Sierra Helada of a nasty plague known as Procesionaria.
So well done to the environmentalists and congratulations for ten years carrying out a labour of love in the countryside around town.
