Benidorm's Karaoke Curate
Published on 6th March, 2006
it's sing-a-long-a-juan
Thanks to the marvels of modern technology one Benidorm priest certainly knows that his flock are all singing from the same hymn sheet. Father Juan Agost of The Good Shepherd church in the centre of town has just had a giant screen karaoke machine installed above the altar which can be seen from all over the church.
These days it's sing-a-long-a-juan as the lyrics of the hymns and psalms flow across the screen to the accompaniment of the guitar playing musical curate. And the screen doesn't just see action on Sundays as during the rest of the week it's used for charity campaign videos or for other presentations.
The giant screen, financed with the help of a loan from the Bishop also serves another purpose, because after the total renovation of the church's interior, there was a big patch of white wall left that needed covering!
After this story, we'll never be able to watch Father Ted in the same light…….
