Benidorm Lottery Draw

publicity will be gained by the sale of millions of lottery tickets
The National Lottery is big, big business here in Spain and not only for the lucky few who win millions of Euros in the big draws. There's a lot of money to be made and publicity to be gained from actually holding the draw and so the Mayor of Benidorm is quite naturally delighted by the decision to stage the March 31st 2007 draw here.
The time and place have been chosen to mark the 50th anniversary of the first general urban plan (PGOU) – the first in all Spain, which was approved in 1956. Not only will the event take place live in front of the cameras of Spain's national TV channel but further publicity will be gained by the sale of millions of lottery tickets from the country's 4300 official ticket outlets. Each ticket will have the image of Benidorm together with the strapline 'Benidorm Urban Plan -50 years - Pioneers in Spain' printed on it.
Traditionally, the winning numbers are drawn out by local schoolkids and Benidorm will be no exception with the children of San Ildefonso asking who wants to be a millionaire.
