Record Sand Monsters?

much bigger than a dinosaur
What do you do when your record-breaking sand sculpture attempt bites the dust? Pick yourself up, dust yourself down, and start all over again? That’s just what sand sculptor Lino Lopéz intends to do, but this time with a change of arena.
Last week Lopéz descended on Benidorm’s Poniente beach to form a giant 35 metre long, 6.5 metre high dinosaur, sculpted from grade one Poniente sand and which would have figured in the Guinness book of records. Unfortunately things didn’t go according to plan - Lopez blames lack of co-operation from Benidorm Council and the lack of salty water to enable the sculpture to dry rock hard - and the dinosaur was washed away in the heavy downpours in last week’s storms.
So now a second attempt is to be made, but this time in La Cala de Finestrat, just down the coast. Lopéz reckons that with the full backing of Finestrat council, he’ll be able to construct something much bigger than a dinosaur. However, the only thing we can think of that’s bigger than that prehistoric creature is a life size model of Europe’s tallest hotel, the Gran Bali, but the real thing is already there!
