Strollin' in Altea
Published on 27th June, 2006
The old town of Altea has just taken on an atmosphere more reminiscent of the era in which it was built. From 23rd June until the end of September the area all around the quaint church and the steep winding streets which lead up to it will be closed to traffic.
Obviously it would be most inconvenient for people who live there not to be able to use their cars all day, so the council - who have inaugurated the scheme - will close the area to traffic from 19.00 to 03.00. This is, of course, the busiest time for the many tourists who flock here to visit the excellent restaurants which line the streets and squares.
So well done the council for providing a solution which suits nearly everybody and just the ticket for admiring the balcony art exhibition without worrying about a giant 4 X 4 sneaking up on you!
