Benidorm Train Trials

Carrying over 300 passengers

The modernisation of the Costa Blanca’s rail transport system is well under way. Already a super duper tram system exists between Alicante and the lovely seaside resort of El Campello using what was once the old railway line to Denia.

Before the end of June trams will also be making the journey into Benidorm via Villa Joyosa as part of the testing of the new system. Carrying over 300 passengers the comfortable trams will whisk travellers and commuters from Alicante to Benidorm in no time at all.

Within the next couple of weeks the brand new trains to be used from Benidorm to Denia will start to have trials on the line. With more space, a different seat configuration and the ability to carry 160 passengers the new trains will be more efficient and comfortable than the old ones.

Finally, €30 million is being spent in Alicante to put a new tramline through the city, past the university to the suburb of San Vicente. This is phase two of a plan which in the dim and distant future will see spur lines linking the airport to the whole of the Costa Blanca and a special line up to Terra Mitica.

It will certainly make life easier for locals and visitors alike!
