Firemen's Bumper Medal Haul
Published on 18th April, 2007
The guys went, saw and conquered
Do you remember the firemen from Benidorm and Alicante who got their kit off to pose for a raunchy calendar? I'm sure the ladies do. The calendar was on sale to raise money for a trip to the World Police and Fire Games (a bit like the Olympic Games) in Adelaide, Australia last month.
The guys went, saw and conquered and came back with a
bagful of medals, 12 in all. Star of the team was Txomi Seguà who returned to Benidorm with no less than 5 medals – 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze – pinned to his toned pecs.
There were policemen and firemen from all over the world competing in 79 events ranging from athletics and team games through to competitions more akin to our firemen's talents like running up and
down tall towers!
Our fire-fighters' superb performance combined with their counterparts from Madrid and Barcelona put Spain in third position in the final medal table. I think all those medals merit another photo
from the calendar – so here it is.
