Moors and Christians
the very name 'Benidorm' is of Arabic origen.
It's Moors and Christians time again in Benidorm. The Fiesta has already kicked off with the big formal ceremony to 'crown' the leading players from both sides – Queen, Knight, King and his
'favourite.'
The real action and fun starts this Wednesday when the big parades of Christian and Moorish troops begin. The lavish costumes and stirring music as the two armies march through town is an
unforgettable sight and shouldn't be missed if you're in Benidorm.
As you know the fiesta re-enacts the Christian victory over the Moors who had occupied Spain for around 700 years – the very name 'Benidorm' is of Arabic origen.
Here's a programme of the starting time of events, most of which take place around the Plaza de la Hispanidad unless otherwise stated.
