Mundomar Opens Again

friendly, playful sea creatures
One of our favourite theme parks – Mundomar – opened for its 11th season on Sunday. There have been lots of improvements made during the winter closure; new garden area, remodelling of the animals' living quarters and installations in general and building a completely new area for the latest arrivals, the otters.
Currently there are eight otters in Mundomar, but as they only take two months to reproduce the chances are that the park will be renamed 'Otterland' by this time next year.
The aim of all the work is to bring the animals - feathered, finned or furry - closer to the public so that interaction can take place. From now on we'll be able to feed the animals – remember,
the sea lions like fish and the little monkeys just love bananas – and in return the sea lions and parrots (sunflower seeds) will put on their new spectacular shows!
One of the most fascinating aspects of Mundomar is its programme of 'dolphintherapy.' It's been found that the behaviour of disabled children who go through the programme of interaction with these friendly, playful sea creatures, improves dramatically. Research by the universities of Paris and Belgium suggests the the dolphins too benefit from being with the children!
