Poniente Paseo and Painting
Sarah Beeny won't be there to supervise
Benidorm council are doing a 'Streets Ahead' on the Avenida Armada Española by telling all the neighbours to clean up their act. Sarah Beeny won't be there to supervise but the council hope to achieve the same effect as Sarah's Channel 4 programme in the avenue which faces the new Poniente promenade.
Their theory is that it's pointless putting in the new Prom without tarting up the area around it. At the moment there are some 20 blocks facing the sea which are looking a bit worse for wear due to the passage of time and the corrosive action of the salty sea air.
The council has sent a letter to the President of each block telling them to instigate the job of painting them to a suitable standard before the new Paseo is completed in a couple of year's time. They have funds available to help the poorer residents and those whose main home it is (as opposed to holiday home owners) so there should be no excuse for not getting the job done.
Roll on the finish date!
