Benidorm on the Right Track

the difference in comfort and safety
Benidorm's transport connection improvements continue at pace on the stretch of the old train track to Altea. The authorities are now about to start work on the renovation of this 8.9 kilometre length of antiquated track to make it suitable for the new super trams which will run all the way from Alicante.
Costing around €18 million, the work involves the electrification of the line – previously diesel engines pulled the trains – ripping up the old wooden sleepers and replacing them
with concrete ones and replacing the actual railway lines with stronger ones. Passengers will then immediately notice the difference in comfort and safety as the new trams speed along at 100
kilometres an hour.
The new trams really are so much more comfortable than the old trains and when the work is finished (don't ask us when) the Costa Blanca will have an excellent transport system.
