Better Transport Links

will allow trains to travel at 230 kph
Did you know that Benidorm sits in the middle of an area with a population of 3 million people? The Costa Blanca region, roughly corresponding to the area between the big cities of Alicante and
Valencia, has even more 'inhabitants' when the tourist season is in full swing.
To improve public transport in the area, the central and regional governments have agreed to construct a new rail corridor to link Alicante and Valencia with new stations at Benidorm, Dénia, Oliva y
GandÃa. The line will follow the route of the AP 7 motorway between the two cities and will allow trains to travel at 230 kph which will make the journey an absolute breeze. It will of course make
day trips to Valencia an easy possibility for holidaymakers in Benidorm.
In the other direction the line from Alicante to Murcia will be improved so that at last it will be suitable for a link to Alicante's El Altet airport. Again this will benefit Benidorm as more and
more people take advantage of cheap flights to both Murcia and Alicante airports.
Finally, Benidorm's new bus station will be open next month. With room for 30 buses and 30 coaches it will become the focus for road based public transport in the town and – fingers crossed
– the new super trams on the Denia to Alicante line will soon have a stop at the bus station.
