If you're heading over to Benidorm soon, you'll find it sparkling bright and clean as a new pin. The annual autumn clean is under way and the town is getting a thorough 'bottoming' from the cleaning department.

Known as the 'deep clean,' the streets of Benidorm are cleaned like they've never been cleaned before. A fleet of wagons with special equipment like high pressure hoses and so on are used to get into all the nooks and crannies of Benidorm's streets.

They're using water from swimming pools which have been drained to conserve valuable resources and to lesson the inconvenience for town dwellers they're doing it in the middle of the night.

The cleaning programme follows a tight schedule and every night the neighbours in certain streets have to move their cars for the evening to allow the trucks through. By the 6th October Benidorm will look like a completely new town and the council's operatives can go back to spending the night in bed!
