More Furry Babies

hunted almost to extinction

Terra Natura continues to help the world's endangered species of animals and provide fun, interest and entertainment for us, the public. In recent weeks the births of a Scimitar Oryx and twin Otters have been announced.

The story of the Oryx in the wild is perhaps the sadder, as a mere 30 years ago these antelope like creatures with enormous curved horns roamed the entire Sahara area. Now after being hunted almost to extinction for their horns, only a handful are left in Chad and Niger which makes the birth of this new specimen all the more important.

On a smaller scale, Chiqui, the female Otter has given birth to two bundles of furry fun. The Otter, which was once prevalent all over Europe and Asia, is now extinct in certain countries, hence the importance of Terra Natura's breeding programme.

Remember that if you visit Terra Natura, not only will you have a great day out, but you'll be helping to redress the balance of the planet's dwindling wildlife.
