Kids' Toys Confiscated

fines of up to €6000
Over 33000 kids' toys were confiscated from various shops and warehouses in Benidorm in the week leading up to Christmas. The trading standards department of the town council worked closely with the forces of law and order who employed six units of policemen in the operation.
The cops underwent a special training course at the Institute of Toy Technology in Ibi and found that the toys in Benidorm simply didn't comply with regulations regarding safety. They weren't
properly labelled, didn't identify the materials used, many didn't have the CE mark, didn't have warnings or instructions in Spanish and some could have caused injury or death by asphyxia to young
children.
It's believed that fines of up to €6000 could be levied on the shops intending to sell these items.
