8500 athletes will flock to the town

Step up to the ocke because Benidorm has been chosen to host the 19th Spanish National Electronic Darts Championship. The Municipal Sports Palace is the venue for the competition between 5th and 8th March 2009 when over 8500 athletes will flock to the town to compete.

Hotel owners are rubbing their hands with glee as not only does the competition attract the darts players themselves, but also their partners, families and spectators. The mayor's also extremely pleased as normally that time of the year is a period of low demand for hotel beds.

Electronic darts is more or less like real darts only without the general knowledge and spelling questions and with a computerised scoreboard which does away with all that tricky mental arithmetic counting down from 501.
