Sports Report
It all ended in tears
It's been a busy weekend in Benidorm for local sports fans.
The football season kicked off with Benidorm at home against Alcoyano in the Second Division 'B' derby match. It all ended in tears with the home side going down to a 65th minute goal by Rafa Gómez
in front of the TV cameras.
Over at the bullring there was a six – nil scoreline as the trainee matadors took on the young bulls in a 'novices' competition. Star of the show was a pupil at Benidorm's bullfighting school,
José Carlos Venegas, who was awarded 3 bull's ears for particularly good performances and carried shoulder high from the ring.
On Sunday the 7th annual 'fun' swim took place from Benidorm Island to the port. 292 swimmers took part and were grouped into 5 categories according to age and gender to cover the 2 kilometres to
terra firma.
