Tow Away Zone

blocking the pavement
Parking in Benidorm can sometimes be just a little problematical. With so many people all wanting to be in the same place at the same time and with everyone so eager to be as punctual as possible (?????) then just occasionally people leave their cars badly parked.
Figures just released by the police reveal that around 14,000 motorists returned to find their car no longer where it was left – towed away by the council tow truck.
Strangely, the statistics are markedly different to the year before in terms of why the cars were towed. The number of cars moved to the pound for overstaying, or not paying for, their time in the
pay-to-park blue zones increased by a massive 118%!!!! However the amount of dozy parkers who left their motors blocking the pavement, in double file or completely blocking the road, decreased as
well.
Perhaps one reason why the tow truck is so busy is that it's a private company contracted by the council which is paid by results?
