59 minutes of smooth riding
Good news for anybody staying on the Costa Blanca this summer. The new fast modern tram system from Alicante's central market will be extended all the way into Benidorm from the end of May.
There had been a few problems with lines damaged by flooding which caused the expansion of the route to be delayed earlier this year. Now everything is 'on track' and passengers will be able to enjoy
59 minutes of smooth riding between the two stations. Previously, the journey lasted 80 minutes on the old diesel trains which used to run the route.
The trams will run every 30 minutes from 06.00 to 22.00 and for those wishing to travel all the way to Denia there's an hourly service by diesel train from Benidorm. Don't forget that in the summer
there's also an all night service – the Tramsnochador – for night owls and party animals between Alicante and Benidorm.
