Benidorm Sand in Madrid

For the citizens of Madrid, at the geographical centre of Spain, going to the beach is a journey of epic proportions. But thanks to the hotel owners association of Benidorm – Hosbec – the Benidorm beach has come to Madrid!

Yes, it's the 6th annual sand castle competition in the Madrid's famous El Retiro park and 160 tonnes of Benidorm sand has been specially brought up to the capital. Thirty areas have been created where the competitors – individuals, pairs or small groups – can work on their sculptures. The winner of the competition gets a free stay in Benidorm for all the family and every competitor gets free entry to Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Aqualandia and Mundomar Theme Parks.

The Hotel owners obviously hope that the publicity gained from the comp will encourage the good people of Madrid to take their holidays on the real Benidorm beaches.
