Big Plans for Terra Mitica

attracting over 1 million paying customers

Benidorm's big Terra Mitica theme park will undergo some radical changes over the next three years thanks to a €15 million investment by its new managers. The team behind Aqualandia, which now runs Terra Mitica, have announced the big spending plans which will start this September.

Around €5 million will be spent each year in 2010, 2011 and 2012 to improve the facilities and infrastructure of the park with the ultimate objective of attracting over 1 million paying customers by the third year and finally achieve profitability.

The first year will see improvements to the water system of the park so that more water features can be installed. Not only will they be searching for new wells to supply the water, but also repairing the current leaky system where the water bill is €800,000 per year, four times more than Aqualndia!

These improvements – new rides, recreation and shade areas – will come at a human cost as Terra Mitica will be closed for 6 months until next April while works are carried out and this means that hundreds, th enumber is not certain yet, will be laid off for the period.

Let's hope it proves worthwhile in the long term.
