Benidorm cops have stepped up action against tricksters who con gullible victims out of their hard earned cash in the street game 'trile.'

The game consists of guessing which of three (the trilogy or 'trile' in Spanish) shells conceals a pea underneath it. The trileros always start with a demonstration of how easy it is as everyone wins at first, then when a real member of the crowd places a bet, he loses.

It's been problem not only in Benidorm but the world over, and now the police have taken much more action against the conmen with 416 busts this summer as opposed to 229 last year.

The commercial sector of the town is happy about this as their prospective customers have a lot more money left to spend in the shops!
