Benidorm – The International Town

the biggest group of immigrants is the Brits

Benidorm is so popular with holiday makers from all over Europe but it's equally popular with people from all over the world who now call it home. A census taken on 22nd April shows that the total population of the town was 73,895 and of these 27,261 were foreigners – that's 37%!

There are 112 different nationalities represented in this figure – good thing they all speak Spanish – but by far the biggest group of immigrants is the Brits, who number 5,568. After them in the European group come the Rumanians (3,193) and Bulgarians (1,172) whilst from the rest of the world the biggest nationalities are from Ecuador, Morocco, China, Colombia and Pakistan, each represented by more than a thousand people.

There are also citizens from Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Iraq, Ghana and Kuwait in the list of different countries. As far as the Spanish population is concerned there are quite literally tens of thousands who have arrived from outside the Valencian Community to live in Benidorm, for example there are almost 8000 Andalusians here too.
