The Tour of Benidorm

Spain's most famous cycling race 'La Vuelta' (The Tour of Spain) comes ever so close to Benidorm next week. Sunday 5th September sees Stage 9 of the tour start at Calpe and take in a circuitous route covering 187.7 km to finish in Alcoy.

The cyclists will enjoy seeing some of the Costa Blanca's holiday resorts and spectacular tourist attractions along the way – Javea, Denia, and Guadalest (phew, that's a steep one) – to name just a few.

The stage starts at 12.30, just when it's getting nice and warm for cycling up mountains, and the organisers estimate that 'the bunch' will arrive in Polop – the closest part of the race to Benidorm – around 15.00.

So, if you want to see some of the fittest athletes in the world, you know where to go!
