Benidorm Winter News
temperatures rising to 20 degrees
While the rest of Europe has started to shiver with the winter chill, there's a springlike air in Benidorm. This week, which had two national public holidays, has witnesses temperatures rising to 20 degrees centigrade bringing out lots of people onto Benidorm's beaches and even swimming in the sea. Hotel owners also have a 'spring' in their step as occupancy levels reached 90%.
In fact Benidorm is behind only Madrid and Barcelona in terms of hotel occupancy. As you would expect, the big cities are extremely popular for winter breaks, but it demonstrates that Benidorm is more than just a beach destination when over 1 million hotel nights were spent in the town in October.
Holiday-makers in Benidorm this Christmas can feel the icy blast of winter if they so desire – the council has erected an ice-skating rink at a cost of €21,000 in the town hall square, renamed 'Christmas Square' as it will be the centre of all the festivities during Christmas, New Year and the Three Kings period.
