More Stars for Benidorm

€2000 million has been invested

New Year's here so it's time to examine what's happened in the recent past. Our local paper carries a report on hotel activity over the last 10 years which shows that a scheme to change Benidorm's tourist activity from quantity based to quality based is working.

The statistics show that the number of hotel beds in the four and five star class has doubled from around 7000 to 14,000 in just a decade. This has happened by building new hotels or upgrading existing hotels into a higher class and the report says that around €2000 million has been invested to achieve this!

The other side of the coin is that around 1000 beds in the lower categories have been lost by the closure or upgrading of hotels so that these days 36% of Benidorm's accommodation is in the top class bracket.

Why not treat yourself to a luxury stay on your next Benidorm holiday?
